Illegal immigration: "So easy, a caveman could do it."
(As published in the Lake Sun Leader)
The answer to illegal immigration is not building a wall.
It is not trying to round-up twelve million illegal immigrants end deporting them back to Mexico or other countries.
To stop illegal immigration, we must take away the incentive for coming here illegally in the first place: jobs.
Anyone, whether it be an individual or a large corporation, must be stopped from hiring illegal immigrants.
This initiative would involve fining anyone employing an illegal immigrant $10,000 per illegal emloyee.
This one measure would certainly have an impact on those individuals or companies breaking the law.
Anyone here illegally should not be allowed a driver's liscense, an education, or housing.
Any landlord renting or selling a home or apartment to an illegal immigrant should be fined $10,000 per illegal immigrant per household.
Illegal immigrants should not be allowed welfare or government assistance while in our country without proper papers.
Banks and financial institutions should be fined $10,000 if they issue credit cards, loans, or bank account to illegal immigrants.
Any children born in the United States should be denied citizenship if that child's parent(s) are here illegally.
There are many more areas which could be covered by a comprehensive immigration policy.
The point is that being here ilegally should not be a "fast track to citizenship."
This is a fair, humane and effective plan to get immigration under control.
We must reward those who follow the rules for applying for citizenship and deny the path of illegal methods for breaking out immigration laws.
