How about including all 719,000 uninsured Missourians?
If you took your car to a garage to be fixed and the mechanic told you he was only able to fix 25 percent of the problem, would you be satisfied?
What if the mechanic told you because he only fixed 25 percent of the car's problem, you saved a bunch of money, would that make you feel better? This is exactly what Gov. Blunt and the Republicans are doing with their, "Insure Missouri and Missouri Health Net" programs. Nobody, and man, I mean nobody, revels in their mediocrity as do the Republicans. Under Blunt's current Missouri Health Net program, a parent with two children earning $292 a month - just $3,504 a year - doesn't qualify for the program. The Missouri Health Net Program did away with dental, podiatry and women's health screenings. Read Full Article
We’ve not gotten our money’s worth from this legislature!
To quote former Republican President Ronald Reagan, “Are we better off now than when we were (in the year 2000)?”
We Missourians are strange folks, we are accustomed to paying the people we hire to work until the job is done to our satisfaction. This legislature must think they represent Florida since they are finished before they ever start and thinking of retirement as soon as they are elected to office.
Since 2005, the lawmakers of our great state of Missouri have managed to pass some unbelievable legislation in the brief time they actually work. We can all take pride in the fact that they just recently managed to kick at least 170,000 poor Missourians off Medicaid. Now our poor neighbors and their families will receive no preventive care and will be jamming our already over-taxed emergency rooms for every sniffle, cough or illness because they have nowhere else to turn. The wealthy, big business and large corporations don't pay enough!
By the time President Bush leaves office, some economists estimate that this war could cost the American people as much as one trillion dollars. From the same party that gave us such hits as "Voodoo Economics" and the ever-popular "Trickle Down Theory" comes the latest-greatest hit, "Let's run up the highest debt in history without making any provisions to pay for any of it." Never mind looking for nonexistent "Weapons of Mass Destruction" in Iraq, the Republicans are the homegrown version of "Weapons of Mass Fiscal Irresponsibility. Read Full Article
Illegal immigration: "So easy, a caveman could do it."
The answer to illegal immigration is not building a wall. It is not trying to round-up twelve million illegal immigrants end deporting them back to Mexico or other countries. To stop illegal immigration, we must take away the incentive for coming here illegally in the first place: jobs. Read Full Article
A look toward America's future
In a way I am going to miss President Bush and the Republicans after they are replaced with Democrats. Everyday over the last eight years, I have followed this administration's ineptness, underachieving, mangling of the English language, total disregard for the Constitution, complete indifference to science, their absolute fiscal irresponsibility and their uncanny ability to carry on regardless of the truth or bothersome facts. It has been like following a comedy/mystery television series and you never knew what absurdity would unfold next. Read Full Article
